Decoding Early VEGF Signaling: Proteomics Collaboration with the Mann Lab at Max Planck

As part of an ongoing collaboration with the laboratory of Prof. Mathias Mann (Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Germany), our PhD student Elena Rakovoliou visited the Mann Lab in June 2025.

During her stay, she closely collaborated with Andreas Metousis and the proteomics team, participating in all stages of the total and phosphoproteomics experiments — from sample preparation and TiO₂-based phosphopeptide enrichment to LC-MS/MS acquisition. She was also actively involved in exploring the analysis workflow, including data quality control and the first steps of differential expression analysis.

The goal of the visit was to investigate early VEGF-induced signaling events in vascular progenitor cells, a key focus of Elena’s PhD research on vasculogenesis.

We warmly thank the Mann Lab for their hospitality and support, and look forward to the valuable insights this collaboration will bring.
